What is a Quarter Auction?
A quarter auction is a fundraiser that is part auction (bid amount) and part bingo (drawing of numbers). The cost to participate is $10.00 and this is paid at the door. No advance tickets are required.
The entrance fee includes 1 numbered paddle. To increase your chances, you can purchase additional numbered paddles for $3.00 each. The corresponding numbered chip will be put into the drawing basket for each paddle that you have. There are also All-In Paddles available for $40.00 each.
The auctioneer announces the item up for bid and if you are interested you place between 1 and 4 quarters in the basket. The number of quarters is based upon the value of the item. Then, if your number is drawn you win!
There was a wide variety of items up for bid including housewares, gift cards, tools, sports equipment and toys, etc.
In addition to the quarter action bidding there was a Taffy Pull, Chinese Auction and a Take a Chance Drawing for selected higher value items. A full snack bar was also available.
